Biological features. Seeds germinate fastest at 20-22°C. The optimum temperature for growth is 18-20°C. At temperatures above 20°C, the seeds do not germinate in the dark. The plant is demanding on light. Prefers good moisture. Heat-resistant, easily tolerates dry air. Salt tolerant. Prefers soils with an environmental reaction of 6.5-7.0.
Variety selection. In the register, only two varieties are recommended for protected ground: Opchinsky and Kartuli. Of the new foreign varieties, good results are shown by Claret (was the best according to our variety testing results) (Marinda company) and Darklet F1 (Marinda company), Vert Lepage / Istar (Solis), Selma (Bejo seeds), Imperial (Bejo seeds ), Athena (Bejo seeds) and Tango (Bejo seeds).
Growing technology. Sowing dates beginning of February to the end of August. There are several ways to grow seedlings: 1) the seeds are sown in 5 g/m2 growers, when 1 true leaf appears, the seedlings are planted in 5 cm pots; 2) sowing with pelleted seeds directly into cassettes; 3) the seeds are placed in wet sand at a temperature of 20°C and after 4-5 days, when the germinal root reaches a length of 2 mm, they are sown manually; 4) before sowing, the seeds are soaked for 48 hours at a water temperature of 45-50 ° C with a four-fold change. Next, the seeds are dried and sown in the growers, when the plants there have reached the stage of 2-3 true leaves, the seedlings are picked into pots with a diameter of 4-5 cm. -15°С at night, but not below 12°С, otherwise the plants may start flowering. At early sowing dates (December-January), additional lighting is required for 12 hours at the rate of 120 W/m2. Seedlings are ready for planting in the phase of 5-6 true leaves (25-30 days after picking). For growing celery, soils are used, in which the pH level is 6.5-7.0, the density is not higher than 0.8 g/cm3 and the organic content is 15-20%. The planting scheme depends on your goals and the type of variety and therefore varies greatly. The first cut after 55-60 days, the next after 40-45 days. After cutting, top dressing is carried out through the sprinkling system g / m2: N - 15-20, P2O5 - 5, K2O - 7.5-10, NaNO3 - 10-15. The yield per cut, depending on the time, is from May to October 2.0-3.0 kg/m2, from November to March 1.0-1.5 kg/m2.
Distillation. The technology of forcing celery has much in common with forcing parsley. Root crops weighing from 60 to 250 g are suitable for distillation, but the best results are obtained with an average mass of root crops of 230-250 g. The planting rate of root crops is 6-12 kg / m2. Planting pattern 10-15x15 cm. Forcing duration 30-40 days. The yield in winter greenhouses with three cuts in the period from January 15 to April 15 was 6.8 kg / m2, from February 20 to June 30 - 8.2 kg / m2.
Cleaning is done in the morning. Shelf life at 0.5°C is two weeks.
