Plant growth stimulants in spring. Part 2.

повреждение головы томата

A plant with a pronounced anthocyanin coloration of the stem and petioles of the brush due to low temperatures. Only 1 flower pollinated, the rest are single

From felt boots to slates! This is the motto of spring in the south. Yesterday I took a jacket with a fur trim on the collar with me in the car, and today I turn on the air conditioner in the car in a white T-shirt and ballet flats. Such a spring cheers up, life boils, you want to move mountains.

But the tomato in the greenhouse is not sweet. Driven out by stimulants and constant doses of nitrogen, he is seriously stressed. The tops are the first to signal this: by 11-12 o’clock in the afternoon, leaves and heads abruptly all wither and hang like rags. Plant growers panic, what to do?! The flood begins. By evening, closer to sunset, the plants come to their senses, the turgor increases, but the sluggish leaves at the top do not recover, but dry up. And any damage to the head of a tomato is stress.

If we dig up such a plant, we will see a very small bundle of roots in relation to a fairly powerful vegetative part, which was driven out on stimulants and nitrogen in low light and low temperatures. Now, to put it simply, a weak root system is not able to maintain an optimal water balance in the whole plant, and in the greenhouse it is hellish heat, evaporation from the leaves is also very powerful. So the highest point of the plant, the head, suffers first of all.

But sluggish tops and head damage are far from the whole list of problems in such plants. In addition, there is:

Violation of calcium metabolism due to high nitrogen and too fast growth, as a result of which the fruits are affected by blossom end rot, while still very small.

Partial or complete loss of the first brush due to a long stay in the seedling period, landing with a flowering brush in cold ground. The root is not developed, it is not able to nourish the brushes and fruits. As a result, a very part of the first brush is either single, or there are 1-2 fruits on it, usually small ones. On higher brushes, problems are also observed in the form of weak, thin petioles, long thin legs, underdeveloped weak flowers that open very slowly.

Here the question arises, well, what to do how to avoid this? How to get a rich early tomato crop?

We will talk about this in the next part of the article!
